We would love to hear about your results from other Shows or Events you have competed at in 2009 pictures are welcome, so come on tell us what you have been up too and where.
Vlacq Redwood Reflection, Ian and Sue Cole's Part-bred Arab, made a spectacular start to the 2009 season at the British Driving Society show at Erddig on May 9th. He won all four of his classes - Novice Long-reining with obstacles, (1st and Reserve Champion), Lady Whip (!) (1st and Champion) and both sections of the Ride and Drive class with Laura Pyke doing the honours in the Ride section and acting as Groom in the Drive section. He was also Reserve Novice Whip Champion, qualifying to compete for the Novice Whip Show Championship the following day. Numerous Best Turned Out Whip and Best Turned Out Groom rosettes added to the day's amazing total. For those not familiar with carriage driving terminology, it should perhaps be explained that a Lady Whip (as opposed to a Gentleman Whip or a Junior Whip) refers to the person driving the horse. Nothing risqué!

As we all felt that Red had surpassed himself on the Saturday we opted to take his friend Jim the Cob, Ian's horse, on the Sunday, adjusting our entries accordingly.
Jim took a first in Newcomers Pleasure Driving, two seconds in Exercise Vehicle and Amateur, and a third in Veteran at age 17 as well as Novice Whip Reserve Champion and Reserve Champion in the Novice Whip Show Championship over the two days. It was Jim who taught us to drive, enabling us to turn Red into a carriage horse, and we were devastated to lose him to colic only three weeks later.
Red only made it to one more show due to Sue's ill health, Newport Driving Society in July. He again put his best foot forward, winning the Style and Performance class and qualifying for the Drivers Dream championships at Biggleswade in August, and being narrowly beaten into second place in the Exercise Vehicle section of the Private Driving class.
2009 was a season which started so well for us and ended so sadly. Looking forward to a good 2010!

I thought you might like to know that my pony Kelsborrow Fleur, who qualified for the Cherif Championships at your Spring show, did very well at Addington, qualifying for the evening performance eventually finishing 11th. She was the only under 13.2 in the final judging.
"all the hardwork Kirsty Sutherland, her rider, and her Mum, Lesley, have done to produce Fleur since she moved to their home."
Your show was the start of a really good year for us with the pony also winning Welsh Pony and Cob Society Bronze medals both in-hand and performance. Thanks for your support. Janet Sowden
